I was wandering around our local toy shop and I saw this doll looking down at me from a high shelf and I really did want to bring her home with me quite a lot. She is made by Moulin Roty.
Edith is my new style crush. I love the way she mixes pattern and colour, it all looks so effortless and yet so elegant. Autumn is definitely upon us now so while she was staying she asked for something to keep out the chilly weather. I think she was happy with the shrug she commissioned.
Ooh what a beautiful mover Ilsa is. She has a figure to die for and practiced perfecting her arabesque 'til the cows came home. I loved watching her skip and dance through the fields in the late summer sunshine.
There was so much work to be done in the garden when Miss Cabbage came to stay. She was such a great help and a fountain of knowledge - she certainly knows her onions!
Oh Horatio! I loved having you around. You were so spritely and full of fun and I'm so late posting that I'm sure you've been getting up to all kinds of mischief since you left.
Miss Cabbage has been to stay (Kate's doll) and what a delight she has been; she has baked constantly so all of my cake tins are full to brimming, she has cleaned the whole house top to bottom and she entertained the baby; she is a marvel!
We are are nine doll makers and we will each make the start of a doll which then gets added to by everyone else in the group as it travels around over the course of nine months and at the end it is returned to the original maker.
The doll can be as complete or incomplete as we like when it begins it journey. We will keep a record of it as it travels around – some with a camera, a journal or a sketch book, some on this blog.
When a doll arrives with us, we are free to do with it as we like! We spend as much or as little time as we have that month. Add body, head, face, limbs, outfits, accessories, environment, anything that we feel will fit then we post it to the next doll maker in the list. The posting day will be at the end of each month, the first posting day is 30th June 2010.
The resulting dolls will unplanned, uncontrolled and who knows what delights and personalities will be created!
